Iván Montaña was born in Tarragona (Spain) in 1975.

He began his education in drawing and graphics at the Art School in Tarragona. Iván Montaña later pursued painting with Josep Calderó, attended an academic course in drawing and painting in Reus, and studied graphic design in Barcelona.

In his earlier works, predominantly painted on used cardboard, the focus was consistently on the human figure. Iván Montaña intentionally incorporated the structure and texture of different cardboard materials into his art.

In his abstract paintings, he uses canvas as a base, but still skillfully incorporates cardboard and paper fragments to enhance the composition.

His small-format paper works, all unique pieces, complement the variety of Iván Montaña’s portfolio with a broad spectrum of themes.
