Herbert Zangs

Herbert Zangs was born in Krefeld (Germany) in 1924 and died there in 2003.
From 1945 to 1950, Herbert Zangs studied at the renowned Düsseldorf Art Academy, where he met Joseph Beuys and Günter Grass.
Following his studies, he set off on a journey through Europe and North Africa. Back in Germany, Zangs moved into his first studio.
From 1952 onwards, he created his well-known “Verweißungen”, as well as his folds, knots and arithmetic signs (plus-minus)
In 1965 Herbert Zangs moved to Paris, and from 1968-69 to New York and Canada. From 1969 to 1978, he traveled to India, Japan, the South Seas, Australia and Africa.
