Ottmar Hörl was born in 1950 in Nauheim (Germany).

1975-1979
Studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste, Frankfurt/Main.
1979 to 1981
Studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Prof. Klaus Rinke.
1985
Founded the group Formalhaut with architects Gabriela Seifert and Götz Stöckmann.
1992-1993
Guest professorship at TU Graz (with Formalhaut).
1994
Award for Architecture, Academy of Arts Berlin (with Formalhaut).
1997
art multiple Prize, International Art Market, Düsseldorf.
1998
Wilhelm Loth Prize, Darmstadt.
Since 1999
Professorship for Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg.
